TECNO CAMON 17P finally launched in South Africa last month, and I had got to experience it first-hand.
A couple of weeks back a package landed on my doorstep and there it was, TECNO Mobile’s CAMON 17P smartphone and if you know me, you’ll know the first thing I checked out on the phone. That’s right, the camera. I probably took about seven, if not 10 selfies.
You can’t blame me, I’m not that bad looking and most importantly, that camera is everything. It’s clear, captures surrounding areas perfectly and for those who like a little filter here and there, the beauty feature on the selfie camera offers this. It’s a natural filter that no one can easily spot.
The CAMON 17P boasts a massive 6.8” FHD+ IPS Hole screen, complemented by a 16MP selfie camera and a 64MP AI camera with a G85 Octa-core processor ensuring that animations are smoother, games are immersive and networking is faster.
Danni Xu, TECNO Chief Marketing Officer says the CPU with HyperEngine game optimization is the brand’s fastest chip yet, affording users exceptional performance. He adds, “We understand the younger generations need for superior technology to communicate and bring their ideas to the world. In developing our smartphones, we pay special attention to camera features since selfies have become such an important part of millennial and GenZ users’ online identities.”
Battery life
There’s nothing worrying like running out of battery when you’re nowhere near home to charge. I for one, do not dare leave the house with a battery that’s not fully charged; I’m too paranoid about being unreachable if ever I should be needed. I fully charged the TECNO CAMON P17 and more than once its battery has lasted me for a full 24hrs.
I use the phone mostly to capture content: video and pictures, and I live on Instagram. For those who know, this takes up a lot of battery life but the phone stays powered up. According to Danni, intelligent scheduling and balancing allow for the reallocation of resources to ensure maximum power efficiency on the phone so that its battery lasts longer.
CAMON P17 features a 5000mAh 18W flash charging battery and a 6GB memory allowing seamless multitasking and video.
TECNO CAMON P17 retails from R4 999.99, and to celebrate the phone’s launch, the brand produced a short documentary titled Rise of the Selfie. The documentary looks into the history of selfies.
